We are currently seeking an Estimator for an International Specialist Contractor working on the Design, Fabrication & Installation of Education, Leisure & Public Construction Projects.
This is a new strategic hire to grow the estimating function with the support of the Operations & Engineering Director, you will lead the estimating and tender functions within the business to secure new and profitable work with existing and new clients.
The role offers promotion to Pre-Construction Manager, working for a market leader in this construction area.
Salary: £60,000 to £80,000

Roles & Responsibilities:
(Tender)
*Coordinate multiple estimates simultaneously and review against internal resourcing requirements
*Review consultants’ drawings, specifications and contract information received;
*Understand the enquiry and the likely procurement process - (QS / Project Manager / Architect / Engineer / Main Contractor – *Framework negotiation / Traditional Tender / Single Stage or Two Stage D&B);
*Establish and maintain relationships with owners, consultants, and procurement teams
*Review and make enquiries with necessary external parties to obtain additional information (such as site and logistics requirements) as and when required
*With the support of others internally, assess the most (economically) advantageous bid
*Brief and instruct the internal team to develop the best proposal – Rates/3D model and Quantities
*Instruct / generate enquiries to the supply chain
*Prepare the input data to establish draft price and Programme
*Understand opportunities for Value Engineering - provide advice and costs associated with VE opportunities
*Prepare tender return documents
*Ensure that identified risk and opportunity is managed as part of the pricing process
*Present the tender for internal adjudication meeting
*Conclude tender / enquiry response and attend any pre-tender, mid-tender and post-tender meetings as required
(Post Tender / Follow Up)
*Issue follow up instructions for Budget Costings / Tender Returns / General Enquiries
*Conduct post-tender reviews and assist in collation of data for the internal database and industry benchmarking
*Negotiate final contract terms and sums with the Director of Projects
*Prepare handover packs for internal departments including Design & Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management and Finance
(General Tasks)
Manage the global tender and enquiry list
Contribute to the development of estimating procedures and systems
Create and develop tender database for current and historic cost data and supply chain cost information
Liaise with the Accounts team to initiate discussions to capture project commercial performance data
Role Requirements:
The suitable candidate will hold a Degree or HNC/D in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management, Cost Planning, or relevant qualification and experience.
You will have in-depth knowledge of the competitive tendering environment and process and an understanding of suitable Programme and estimating packages including Microsoft Project and Excel.
Strong Communication skills and being able present information clearly and simply are essential. Some experience and/or ability to use CAD (Revit) or to review for take-offs would be a bonus.
